We believe change starts with listening. Our research is grounded in communities' lived experience and designed to inform real decisions.
This page acts as a hub for all our current and future research projects. From the groundbreaking Birmingham Pakistani Report to our ongoing Youth Survey, we use data and stories to influence policy, practice and investment.
The Birmingham Pakistani Report is a community-led research project that set out to understand the lives, needs and hopes of Birmingham's Pakistani communities – one of the city's largest populations.
The project gathered responses, interviews and conversations covering key themes:
Gives councils, public services and institutions a clearer picture of Pakistani Brummies' experiences
Provides evidence to support better policy, targeted investment and more inclusive services
Underpins Vibrant Voices' programmes on leadership, arts and civic participation
Key Finding: The report highlights both deep inequality and huge strengths – from high levels of community support and resilience to serious concerns about unemployment, mental health, discrimination and lack of political trust.
We currently have a youth survey live, inviting young people (especially from Pakistani and other under-represented communities in Birmingham and the wider Midlands) to share their views and experiences.
Exploring what young people hope and worry about for the future
Experiences of school, college, work and unemployment
Access to arts, culture and creative opportunities
Sense of belonging, identity and representation
Attitudes to leadership, democracy and civic life
Responses will shape our future programmes and partnerships
Help shape future leadership, arts and civic opportunities by taking part in our youth survey. Your voice matters!
Take the Youth SurveyOver time, this page will also host more research and insights:
Continued engagement and follow-up research to the Birmingham Pakistani Report
British Pakistani and other diaspora-focused research initiatives
Research exploring identity, opportunity and civic life led by young people
We want this section of the site to become a trusted home for insight on communities whose voices are often missing from mainstream data and decision-making.
